State Declines To File Charges In Fatal Navarre Stabbing

According to a press release from the Office of State Attorney, charges will not be sought against Bryce Schroeder for stabbing Daniel Jebadiah Lee Bubanas to death on December 16, 2016 in Navarre, FL.

Following a through investigation, it has been determined that Schroeder acted in self defense when Bubanas was killed. It has also been determined that no charges should be filed against Schroeder for the injuries to Cole Tolbert and Ethan Frymark.

The Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Division has been working continuously on the fatal stabbing from Friday evening in Navarre.

The Sheriff’s Office has identified the person responsible for the deadly stabbing and in the process of reviewing videos and other evidence of the incident. The focus of the investigation has shifted from identification of suspects to the circumstances surrounding the use of force. At the conclusion of the investigation, the State Attorney’s office will review all of our findings to determine culpability.

Sgt. Rich Aloy stated they know there were many individuals at this incident and they are looking for anyone who may have captured videos of that evening. Anyone with information is asked to contact our Major Crimes Unit at 983-1230.

One person stabbed to death and another sent to the hospital in late night disturbance.

The Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office responded to a disturbance late Friday night near Navarre that resulted in one person dead and one in the hospital.

According to a press release from the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a wooded area near River Birch Road in the Navarre area at 10:45 PM Friday night to a reported stabbing.

During the course of the investigation, It was determined that there was a large gathering in the area that resulted in one person being stabbed to death and another with unknown injuries sent to an area hospital.

The Santa Rosa County Major Crimes Detectives responded along with the Crime Scene unit.

Due to the incident being an active investigation, details are limited. Sgt. Aloy said further information will be released as it becomes available.
