On Tuesday, April 25, 2017, the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 2800 block of Augustus Rd in Navarre at approximately 9:40 am in reference to a 911 call of a burglary in progress. The caller stated there were two subjects in the residence.
While Deputies were in route, both subjects fled the scene in a vehicle. Deputies were able to locate the suspects driving on East Bay Blvd where they were observed bailing out of the vehicle. One suspect, Matthew Aaron Crawford Lynch, was immediately taken into custody. The second suspect fled wearing all camouflage into a wooded area.
A perimeter was immediately setup to contain the suspect and a K-9 from the sheriff’s office was deployed. After a brief search, the K-9 located the second suspect. After the suspect refused multiple verbal commands to surrender, the K-9 apprehended the unwilling suspect by use of apprehension measures (A Bite). The suspect, who was identified as Walter William Blakeman, was then taken into custody by Deputies.
Blakeman was taken to a local area hospital for evaluation due to complaints of chest pains. After being released from the hospital, Blakeman was transported to the Santa Rosa County Jail.
This case remains under investigation.
