On Thursday, August 11, 2016, at approximately 3:13 A.M. the Niceville Police Department responded to 304 Reeves Street Lot E-8, in reference to a person being shot. Upon officers arrival, they found 19 year old Johnathan Alexander Hoover. Hoover had been fatally shot.
Information obtained on scene led them to identify 22 year old Zachary Joseph Scott MacLean, the resident of 304 Reeves Street Lot E-8, as the shooter. Maclean was interviewed and arrested on un-related charges. Maclean was later arrested on the charge of Manslaughter for the death of Hoover.
The gun used in this incident was later determined to have been stolen out of Okaloosa County and is currently being investigated.
This incident was investigated by the Niceville Police Department with the assistance of the Florida Department of law Enforcement and the State Attorney’s Office.
