Fort Walton Beach man victim of Fatal Traffic Accident as he attempted to cross Beal Pkwy

According to a Florida Highway Patrol press release, 49 year old Brian keith Gilmore, of Fort Walton Beach, FL, died at the scene after being struck by a vehicle as he attempted to cross Beal Pkwy near manring Dr on foot Monday evening.

On September 5, 2016, at approximately 8:55 PM, Charles Clifton Muncher was traveling northbound on Beal Pkwy in a 1998 Chevrolet S-10 truck. Brian Keith Gilmore was walking on the raised center median and attempted to cross over to the east shoulder of the roadway. Muncher steered to the left in an attempt to avoid Gilmore but was unsuccessful and struck Gilmore with the right front of his truck.

Gilmore was thrown to the ground and landed in the inside northbound lane of Beal Pkwy. Gilmore was in the center of the outside lane when he was struck. Muncher came to a controlled stop in the in the northbound turn lane.

Gilmore succumbed to his injures at the scene.

Muncher was wearing his seatbelt and his vehicle sustained an estimated $1,500.00 in damages.

Alcohol results are pending further investigation.
