A Destin resident has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after witnesses say he fired a gun at another man inside a Destin tattoo business.
48-year old Gabriel Spencer of 277 Twin Lakes Lane was located at his home shortly after the incident was reported Friday afternoon. Victim Christopher Caupp of Ohio says he was getting a tattoo at “Just Do It Tattoos” around 2:30 p.m. when Spencer came over to the booth to speak with the tattoo artist. Caupp says Spencer placed his hand on the table he was on so he asked Spencer to leave. The two then got into an argument. Witnesses say Spencer pulled a Glock semiautomatic handgun from a holster behind his back and pointed it toward Caupp. A shot was fired, hitting the wall behind Caupp. Spencer then left the scene.
Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office deputies found Spencer at his home a short time later and took him into custody. Spencer claims Caupp “rushed” him during the argument. Deputies meantime located the .45 caliber weapon and a spent shell casing during a search of Spencer’s house.
