A Local FDLE Agent Who Is Entrusted With Investigating Sex Crimes On Children Has Been Arrested For Sexual Battery on Two 8 Year Old Children

A Supervising Agent with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement in Pensacola has been arrested for Sexual Battery on a victim less than 12 years of age and Lewd Lascivious Molestation on a victim less than 12 years of age.

The Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office was notified on October 28th by an investigator with the Department of Children and Families of the allegation of sexual abuse on two children by an adult.

During a recorded Child Protective Team interview with one of the 8-year-old victim’s it was revealed that Charles Calvin McMullen performed sexual acts on the child as well as make the victim perform sexual acts on him and make the two children perform sexual acts on each other. The other 8 year victim was interviewed separately without informing him of the other child’s allegations and gave similar detailed information as well.

jailed-1According the arrest report, when the DCF investigator made contact with McMullen and informed him that allegations was made by one of the victims, McMullen began to cry.

During the investigation it was revealed that Charles “Chuck” McMullen is a supervisor with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement who investigates Child Pornography and Sex Crimes.

McMullen continuously denied having any inappropriate contact with either of the two victims during a post Miranda interview at the sheriff’s office on November 1st and stated  he has never touched them sexually.

After conducting a thorough investigation with the Department of Children and Families and conferring with the State Attorney’s Office, Detectives with the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office, Major Crimes Division arrested McMullen on November 1st for 2 counts of Sexual Battery on a victim less than 12 years of age by a person 18 years of age or older and 2 counts of Lewd Lascivious Molestation of a victim  less than 12 years of age by a person 18 years of age or older.

At the time of arrest, McMullen was given a bond of $1,500,000.00 and is currently in jail.

Contact was made with FDLE and Commissioner Rick Swearingen issued the following statement, “I am deeply troubled by these serious allegations and I know I speak for all members when I say we are shocked and disappointed.  We will continue to cooperate with the investigators on this case to quickly provide anything they need from us.”

According to the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office this case remains active although an arrest has been made.

If convicted, McMullen could face the Death Penalty for the Sexual Battery and Life in Prison for the Lewd Lascivious Molestation.
