Crestview, Fla. — Intake and outreach resource information for residents living with disabilities, and their healthcare providers, is coming to the county seat Wednesday, Aug. 21, when the Center for Independent Living’s Disability Resource Center partners with CareerSource Okaloosa/Walton.
The Crestview Public Library hosts the event, which will be held at CareerSource’s mobile unit parked on the green across the street from the library.
According to information provided by the sponsoring organizations, CIL representative Karen Jackson will be available during the session to provide information about services including:
• Independence information and agency referrals
• Peer mentoring
• Housing or home modification referrals for
• Americans with Disabilities Act “self-advocacy assertiveness
ª Independent living skills
• Equipment loan locker information, and
• Short-term loans of assistive technology (“try before you buy”).
Attendees can also learn about the Florida Telecommunications Relay Distribution Center program that provides free amplified phones for the hearing or speech impaired.
Ms. Jackson will be aboard the CareerSource Mobile Unit across from the library between 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 21, to meet with individuals to provide awareness and answer questions.

The CareerSource Okaloosa/Walton mobile unit is also available across from the Crestview Public Library every Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to provide assistance with the job-hunting process.
