Crestview, FL – A Crestview High School student faces numerous felony charges after the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office found him in possession of a concealed firearm on school property.
A School Resource Officer learned 15 year old Jabari Imani had been living in a shed behind a friend’s home on West Bowers Avenue and was believed to be in possession of a weapon. Deputies went to the scene where the homeowner gave consent to search the shed. Deputies found a back pack and small hand bag under a tarp. Along with clothing, marijuana and other items, they found dozens of .22 rounds, a 9 mm magazine, and other ammunition.
Imani was located and detained by the School Resource Officer.
An unloaded .22 caliber Ruger revolver was found in his waistband. No ammunition was located on his person, however a secondary search of Imani’s backpack turned up a half dozen .22 caliber rounds.
Deputies say there were no known threats towards the school or any individuals by Imani, who told them he had the weapon for self-protection after he left the school campus
Imani is charged with possession of a firearm on school property, carrying a concealed firearm, possession of a controlled substance without a prescription, possession of marijuana more than twenty grams, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
