We invite you to be a part of the 3rd Annual Holmes County Outdoor Expo, which is hosted by the University of Florida/ IFAS Holmes County Extension Program.
The Expo will be held September 7-8, 2018 at the Holmes County Agricultural Center in Bonifay, FL. The mission of the Holmes County Outdoor Expo is to raise awareness of the natural resources in our region, and to educate individuals on how to manage those resource to ensure they are preserved for future generations.
On Friday, vendors will open from 3 PM to 8PM, with a benefit concert featuring the Clay Brooker Band beginning at 6 PM. In addition, BJ Kelli from 96.9 the Legend will be broadcasting live on Friday night. All proceeds from Friday night will go to help the family of Seth Smith, a Holmes County 4-H member, who is facing major medical expenses. On Saturday, the gates will open at 9 AM, with vendors welcoming all attendees, and the hosting of the Long Spur Shootout. This is the Florida State Championship Turkey Calling Contest, and a Natioanl Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF) Grand National qualifying contest. There are hunter (amateur) and youth divisions for this event, as well as former National Champion callers in the advanced open divisions.
Admission is $5.00 per adult, but kids 12 and under are free. Admission enters you in a drawing to win a 34 quart Canyon Cooler, donated by Orange Hill Express. In addition, there is no extra charge to attend the concert or the turkey calling contest.
Vendors include all things outdoors and more. From trucks, boats, ATV’s and food plot implements, to boutiques, leather work, custom knives and more. Featured vendors include Orange Hill Express, and Kings Outdoors.
A Scavenger Hunt will be held featuring interactive educational booths that will focus on natural resource management. These booths will be hosted by local agencies and University of Florida Specialists. Booths will include food plot management, gun safety, blood trailing education, live lionfish, 4-H, snakes, fish pond and aquatic weeds, invertebrates and more. Prizes from the Scavenger Hunt include one youth and one adult kayak.
The Holmes County Outdoor Expo is quickly becoming a major outdoor event, and we invite you to this family friendly event that is working to preserve the future of our natural resources, and encouraging families to get outside and enjoy them together!
