Eglin Air Force Base, Fla. — Residents may experience aircraft noise as early as Monday evening.
The 43rd Fighter Squadron at Eglin Air Force Base plans to conduct night flying operations utilizing the F-22 Raptor this coming week Monday through Friday, October 7 – 11, 2019.
Eglin advised in a press release as many as 14 F-22 Raptors will start taking off between the hours of 6:30 and 8:30 p.m. and fly as late as 10:30 p.m.
The night flying operations will be Oct. 7-11, Oct. 15-18, and possibly Oct. 21-23.
If winds are favorable, efforts will be made to use Runway 12/30 to minimize noise in the community. Runway 12/30 is the runway utilized by the Destin-Fort Walton Beach Airport (VPS) and runs Northwest to Southeast.
Night flying is a required part of the 43rd Fighter Squadron training operations.
